Mr. Bradley was my teacher (Wayne Hills HS Class of 1972), my friend, and a mentor in philosophy of life. I was the manager of his cross country team in 1970 & 1971, and I was his "spotter" in the press box for his renowned play-by-play of WHHS football games at a time when wins were scarce and we had to entertain ourselves and the fans. He truly cared about his students and his colleagues and understood that classroom learning is important. But some lessons that can be even more valuable throughout life are/were learned outside of class - his teaching mission did not end at the classroom door. I'll miss him greatly. RIP, John, and my condolences to Judy and your family. Jon Cole, Arlington VA

I just learned this morning about Mr. Bradley from the article in The Record, and rushed over to his memorial service at St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Pompton Lakes to pay my respects and extend my condolences to Mrs. Bradley. It was a wonderful memorial service with lots of laughter, in keeping with Mr. Bradley’s personality. Sam Maizel (WHHS ’72) and two of Mr. Bradley’s colleagues at Wayne Hills High School, Al Ruffini and Hack Miller, delivered great eulogies.
I was fortunate to have known and worked with Mr. & Mrs. Bradley when I was in high school. I first met Mr. & Mrs. Bradley when I was a sophomore at Wayne Senior High School during the 1965-66 school year.(Mrs. Bradley was Miss Richmond at the beginning of the school year.) Mr. & Mrs. Bradley were the faculty advisors to the sophomore class, of which I was the Vice-President, and I was in Mrs. Bradley’s French class that year. I went to the newly opened Wayne Hills Senior High School the next school year, and graduated with the first graduating class, the Class of 1968. Mr. Bradley transferred to Wayne Hills for its first year, where he remained for the duration of his illustrious teaching and coaching career. He was one of the all-time great teachers at Wayne Hills, who was instrumental in establishing Wayne Hills as a great high school. He was a good guy, who had a great sense of humor, commensurate with his 6-foot-8 frame. I extend my sincerest condolences to Mrs. Bradley and his family.

Though I never got to have Mr. Bradley as a Coach or Teacher my two children did. Many funny mid-term comments came home to my wife and I about our kids progress. We always had a good laugh.
Many years ago in 1989 My wife and I were in Florence, Italy visiting The Statue of David. In my ViewFinder of my camera I spotted Mr. Bradley. How, by his IMPOSING HEIGHT. He stood Above all. Literally he did in all he did. Knowing this man for four decades was an HONOR. He will be missed.

Madame, I remember you so fondly and also remember your stories of your husband (one in particular about car shopping has always stuck in my mind). I was a lackluster French student (often responding to your questions with the response: "quel mystaire?") so I doubt you will remember me but I extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

John Bradley was simply the best in every sense of the word. As a student at WHHS from '69 - '71 I had the privilege of having him as a teacher and a friend. He helped me through the loss of my own Dad in my sophomore year and I will always be grateful for his kindness and care. A few of us couldn't get enough of him and were savvy enough to join the Audio Visual Club which he ran at the time. We just wanted to be in his company and be bathed by the glow of the twinkle in his eyes. I will never forget this big, beautiful man. RIP -

I taught, coached and socialized with John at Wayne Hills High School during the 1960's -1980's. John had a tremendous love for his profession and his students. HeHis lessons were both fun and educational. Because of his engaging and effective teaching style, John was named "Teacher of the Year' on numerous occasions. Whenever I needed a laugh or was feeling down, I would take the short walk from the biology department to the social studies department and find John. I will miss Big John terribly.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It is always difficult to cope with the pain of losing someone you love so much but remember God is with us and he encourages us to find refuge in his loving arms. One day soon, the bible promises that all those in the memorial tombs will hear Jesus voice and come out to a resurrection of life. May the hope of seeing your dear loved one again bring you hope and comfort. (John 5:28,29 and Psalm 37:29)
