Obituary of Charles R. Thomas

Rev. Charles R. Thomas, age 84, died Friday, September 5, 2008 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. Rev. Thomas was born July 15, 1924 in Paterson, the son of the late Frank and the late Ida (Jefferies) Thomas. He lived in Tafton, PA and was formerly of North Haledon and Wayne. Rev. Thomas graduated from the Preakness School in Wayne and Northeastern Bible College in Essex Fells and was the business manager at Northeastern for 15 years. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Rev. Thomas was the founder and pastor of Calvary Gospel Church in Wayne and pastor of Northfield Baptist Church in Livingston and the First Baptist Church in New Milford. Rev. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife Florence (Hagedorn); his loving daughter Janet and her husband Rev. John Herringer of PA; his 6 cherished grandchildren and 8 treasured great grandchildren; his dear sisters Marion Linstra, Jean Robinson and brother Harry Thomas. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 - 6 p.m. The funeral will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. and will be celebrated by his son-in-law Rev. John Herringer. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
