Obituary of Helen Gall
Helen (Ward) Gall, age 98, died Friday, October 26, 2007 at Oak Ridge Rehab & Nursing Center, Wayne. Mrs. Gall was born August 22, 1909 in Paterson, NJ the daughter of the late Charles and the late Bertha (Ackerman) Ward. She lived in Pines Lake, Wayne. Mrs. Gall was a graduate of Central High School, Sherwood Secretarial School and Mercer Beasley School of Law (now Rutgers). She was admitted to the bar as an Attorney of Law in New Jersey in 1931, at age 22 the youngest attorney in the State and one of the few women then admitted. She was employed by J. Chester Massinger, Esq. and later at Evans, Smith & Evans Paterson. Mrs. Gall wrote articles and poems for many national magazines and nature and wildlife publications including National Wildlife, Canadian Audubon and the Defenders of Wildlife. Mrs. Gall was married to Ronald S. Gall, a prominent Curtiss-Wright executive and civic leader on July 22, 1936 at Christ Episcopal Church in Pompton Lakes with Rev. Child officiating. Together, they were known for their original Christmas cards Mr. Gall on Photography and Mrs. Gall writing the verses. In 1964, they won an award for writing a New Jersey State Song in a contest held by the Tercentenary Committee. Mrs. Gall was a former member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Wayne
She is survived by her nephew, Joseph and his wife Joan Colombo, a great-niece, Jodi and her husband Rick Beyer and great-great nephews, Joey & Ricky Beyer.
She was predeceased by her Husband, Ronald S. in 1976.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 am at Moore's Home for Funerals; 1591 Alps Road, Wayne will be celebrated by Fr. John Donnelly. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
