Dear Grandpa,
I never imagined this day to come. I had so many things on my mind and so many feelings from you. I remember coming home from a basketball game and seeing you sleeping in the hospital. You looked better and I gave hope that you'd live so much longer and healthier. I will always remember how cranky I was in the morning when Maria gave us the call at 4:55AM telling my dad you were dying. Ignorant of what was happening, I heard my parents panicking, but during the day it was assumed all a dream. However, I was still tired. I remembered the lost feeling I had during school and when I came home suspicious. Why was the family coming up agian? Why were you unaccompanied my Grandma? Why was the house cleaner? Why was everyone so nice to me? I had confused thoughts, but nothing about Grandpa's death interrupted. I was informed of his death after eating dinner at home. My dad (Matt) and my Uncle Bob walked through the door just about as I was going to take a nap. I layed in bed for a few minutes until my dad called me down to tell me something. He comes in my room and I asked, "Is it good news?" "You'll see," he responded. I lost hope. I thought I saw him sob in the corner before I came down. I held my breath and kept good thoughts in my mind. My dad said it immediately and I began to scream. Never has this happened to me before. So many things in my seventh grade have gone wrong and I just lost it. I wish my Grandpa were here right now watching me succeed from here. I wish we could have shared more jokes, like the stop and shop and a&p. I remember the day I last made him smile. I remember the last night we shared. I remember staying with him till the end at the wake. And all this things I'll remember about Grandpa is unforgetable.
With Deep Love on this Good Friday, Christina Haywood

We were so saddened to learn of Bob's death from Joan Voglis who called us this evening. We knew Bob's health had been waning and did appreciate hearing from him 6 months ago when we exchanged old memories from the 1950's when he drove the limousine for our wedding.
He certainly lived his life using his gifts; his example is a inspiration for us who are left behind..
Mary, we ask God to bless you and your sons and your daughter and pray that you will be strengthened by the heartfelt prayers that we and others are offering.

My uncle Bob was a great man and a father to a great family. He always thought of other people and always put his family and relatives before himself. His mother and father were wonderfull, intelligent loving Christian people and he was a product of them.
When I was young,he would like me to try to play basketball with him. He was so fast and deliberate that you had to be amazed at his speed and love for basketball.I don't think many people could keep up with him or out think him. When he got behind that ball,he turned into another person that believed 150% in what he did and you knew that as soon as you stepped out there with him, he had already won. he still holds the highest score at his college as far as I know and no one has broken that score since. He told me that someone would probably brake that score, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it. He was a true pro and could have gone all the way,he had the talent. He chose to raise a family and he was a great success at that also. Overcoming odds that challenged him where many fathers would easily have given up. He was always inventive, tough, open minded and never gave in when things were the hardest. He believed in success and most of all Jesus Christ. Between support from his Christian wife,my Aunt Mary, and his strong beliefs, nothing stood in their way. Both worked hard, long hours to raise their family and supported their children all the way. I only wished that I had had a father like him, that never lost direction of his true, most important goal,to raise his family and be a success in both business and home. It takes a special man, especially in the business world,to have what it takes to succeed, retain ethics,be goal oriented and most of all stay on track with your family and home life. He had that and more. When you were around him, you knew there was something special and different about him,on the basketball court and off.He was gifted and it showed in his love for everyone. He was not a hatefull person or negative,he was always thinking out ahead and planning every move, just like on the court when he had a ball in his hand. He was the guy you wanted on your team and you knew you could count on him no matter what happened,he was there. Men like that, come along once in a while and you notice the difference immediately. I've met a lot of people and men in my travels and he was a man that you liked, were drawn to and trusted whenever you saw him. He was a leader and yet compassionate and understanding.
A little over a year ago,he asked me to call him on the weekends and I've called every week. He was always positive and tried to get everyone to be happy.I have missed and been devastated by the loss of all my relatives and some close friends but he is at the top of my list and I will always be inspired by him and remember his kindness, wisdom and how he showed strength and love to everyone. He was special and God used him to show that love and belief in Christ overcomes all obstacles in life. God Bless him and I know the gates swung wide for him. He is in a better place and no earthly pain can touch him now. We love you uncle Bob,thank you for being with us.
