Obituary of Joanne C. Giles

Joanne Carolyn (Moeller) Giles, Age 79, Teacher Joanne died peacefully at home in Wayne, NJ with her family on January 28, 2006. Joanne was a resident of Wayne since 1960. She was born in Merrill, Michigan in 1927. Joanne was the only daughter of Albert Moeller and Mayme Murphy of Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Joanne celebrated her 79th birthday with her family and many friends on January 18, 2006. Joanne graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Mount Pleasant, Michigan in 1944. Joanne graduated with a teaching degree from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant in 1948. She married Eugene J. Giles in August 1949, her beloved husband of 30 years, who died on February 20, 1980. Joanne taught 2nd grade at Our Lady of the Valley School in Wayne for 26 years before her retirement in 1991. Joanne was a past President of the Rosary Society, Chairman of the Parish Board, Teacher at the Liaison Home School Association and an active Eucharistic Minister. Joanne is survived by her four children, Karen Fitzgerald of Bushkill, Pa, Robert Giles of Leesburg, FL, Bill Giles of Wayne, and Lawrence Giles of Stambord, Ct and her granddaughter Christine Fitzgerald of Vernon, NJ and her grandson Brian Giles of Wayne, and her brother Dale J. Moeller of Port Charlotte, FL. Funeral Services will be held at Moores Home for Funerals, 1591 Alps Rd. Wayne. Visiting will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, January 30 and 31, 2006. A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Our Lady of the Valley Roman Catholic Church, 620 Valley Road, Wayne, officiated by Monsignor George F. Hundt, Monsignor James ORourke and Father Daniel Murphy. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes. In lieu of flowers, Joanne has asked that contributions be made to the Joanne Giles Scholarship Fund, Our Lady of the Valley School, 620 Valley Road, Wayne, NJ 07470.
