Obituary of Louis Paul Severi
Louis Paul Severi, age 88, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Valley Hospital, Ridgewood. Mr. Severi was born July 24, 1924 in Paterson, the son of the late Augusto and the late Maria (Paoloni) Severi. He lived in North Haledon. He spent his lifetime serving his country and community. During World War II, he enlisted in the Navy the very day he became eligible, and continued to serve in both the Army Reserves and National Guard until 1986, achieving the rank of Command Sergeant Major.
Following a 30 year career on the Paterson Police force, he moved onto corporate security after retirement, and in his eighties, continued to work for the North Haledon Recycling Center.
In spite of his age and illness, Lou continued to enjoy every moment of his life surrounded by the wonderful people at St. Gerard Majella Church in Paterson, the Golden Age Club and American Legion of North Haledon, Christian HealthCare Adult Day Services, Police Honor Legion, and Totowa Senior Services.
Mr. Severi was the beloved husband of 58 years of Mary (Paulos); loving father of Barbara Severi-Coleman and her husband Ed, and Georgette Miras and her husband Peter; devoted grandfather of Katie and Alex; and dear brother of the late Norma Severi.
Visiting hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Entombment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
