Jonathan Matson, Jr., passed in his home on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Mr. Matson, Jr. was born in Milford, CT the son of the late Jonathan and the late Vera (Boulanger) Matson. Jon is survived by his wife: Cathleen (Castell) Matson, stepsons: Matthew and Lloyd Hamilton; as well as his granddaughter, Bella Hamilton. Jon spent his career in aviation. He began his career in the US Airforce in 1971, after receiving an honorable discharge, he transitioned to the private sector flying for corporate air, rising to captain and training officer and FAA examiner. In later life, Jon transitioned to CAE teaching and certifying pilots, something he thoroughly enjoyed. That is WHO he was. Jon loved to share jokes with everyone and was always delighted to join in the laughter. In his spare time, he enjoyed being captain of his boat and competing in HAM radio contests. His sense of adventure led him to African safaris , becoming a member of the Safari International Club. He also enjoyed sailing, skiing, deep sea fishing, motorcycling and hot air ballooning. During his boating adventures he obtained his master mariner license. Jon loved his friends and family and was always a kind gentleman. Visiting hours will be Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 2-5 PM.
