Obituary of Kenneth John O'Connor

Kenneth John O'Connor 83 of Wayne, NJ passed away on January 3rd, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Hackensack, NJ and grew up in East Rutherford before settling in Totowa and eventually moving to Siena Village in Wayne where he was loved by all. Kenneth was a devoted family man who worked 3 jobs for many years to support his family. He served in the US Air Force after leaving high school. He worked as an Insurance Examiner for the State of New Jersey, as well as taught accounting to many students at the college level. Kenneth was a person who loved helping others. He was generous and kind to everyone he met. Kenneth's favorite past times were going to Mount Airy and Resorts Casino, bowling in his senior bowling league and spending time with (and bragging about) his 3 grandchildren. Kenneth was a great father to his special needs (Down Syndrome) son Kyle who passed away in 1999. We are sure they are now reunited in Heaven together again. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Maryann (nee Malatesta), beloved father of Kelly Semrau and devoted grandfather (Dodos) to Tyler Semrau, Noelle Semrau and Freddy Semrau. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 2-5 pm at the funeral home. All other services are private at the request of the family.
