Obituary of Charles N. Lami

Charles N. Lami, age 65, of Lodi, NJ died Friday, June 28, 2019 Charlie was born May 28, 1954 in Prospect Park, NJ to Katherine (VanderVoort) Demarest and Charles Lami. He graduated from Manchester Regional High School in Haledon in 1972. He attended college at Utah State University, where he received a B.S. in Forest Management in1976. He worked for the Peace Corp. in Jamaica from 1978 to 1980 as an Assistant Regional Forester, and then in Niger from 1991 to 1995 as a Natural Lands Forester. He worked as a forest ranger for the NJ Bureau of Forest Fire Management during the 80's and more recently as a medical coder for St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson. His interests included family, music, politics and reading. He was a devoted brother, uncle and son, who took pride in assisting his mother until his passing. Charlie had a great sense of humor, a keen intellect and loved to discuss politics with others. He was well liked by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his mother, Katherine Demarest, sister, Judi Emering, brother, Kevin Lami and his wife, Loraine, niece, Kris Bulas and her husband, Matthew, nephew, Charles Emering and his wife, Cristina, nephew, Nicholas Lami and nephew, Jonathan Lami. He is predeceased by his father, Charles Lami and brother-in-law, Charles Emering. A private memorial service was held with his immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline or the New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies (NJAMHAA).
