Obituary of Phyllis Hamer

Phyllis Hamer, age 96, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019. Ms. Hamer was born in Passaic, the daughter of the late Ernest and the late Anna (Iandoli) Hamer. She graduated from Berkley College Secretarial School and then she worked from 1960 to 1961 at the first and only Paterson High School on Hamilton Street. From there Ms. Hamer moved to J.F. Kennedy High School in Paterson when it first opened. She was the secretary to the Principal up until a few years ago. Phyllis lived on Burlington Avenue in Paterson for many years and then moved up to Wayne to live with her younger sister. Ms. Hamer is survived by her beloved sister Muriel Wood; and her loving niece, Elizabeth Wood and nephew, Robert Wood and his wife Alice; great-nieces Stephanie Wood and Casey Dugan, and great-nephew Robbie Wood. Friends are welcome to attend the family gathering on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home and the memorial service at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to J.F.
