Ingeborg paid me to help her do some gardening work around her property in Kinnelon between my junior and senior years of high school, summer of 2003 I think. It only lasted the one summer, but I have never ever forgotten her. I learned a lot about gardening from her and really enjoyed walking her property with her as she pointed out that day's project. She had a funny sort of "Hupla!" exclamation anytime she tripped or stumbled that I remember fondly. When she would give me lunch, it was always a cutting board full of meats and cheeses and a stack of bread. It was amazing and as I look back on my pre-adult life probably the best job I ever had. I know this memory is very late considering the date of her passing. I have no contact with any member of her family (indeed, I don't believe I met anybody ever), but I thought they might like to know what even though I only knew her for a very short time, she made a lasting impression on me.

Mein Beileid möchte ich hiermit den Söhnen Reinhard, Wolfram und Markus aussprechen. Ingeborg war so eine beeindruckende, starke und liebenswerte Frau mit einem grossen Herz und einem offenen Haus. Ich habe so viel von ihr gelernt und denke gern an meine Zeit 1992/1993 im Hause Gmelin zurück. Wir hatten so viele schöne Erlebnisse zusammen. 1995 kam ich erneut zu Besuch und es folgte ein Besuch von Ingeborg und Reinhard in Berlin in den 2000er Jahren. Ich freue mich, dass sie so ein erfülltes und langes Leben hatte, was leider auch von viel Anstrengung und Leid geprägt war. Aber sie hat allen Stürmen getrotzt. Ich denke oft an Ingeborg und mein Beileid gilt ihren Söhnen, Enkelkindern und Urenkeln, denen sie soviel Liebe gegeben hat. Voller Anteilnahme grüßt Kordula Runow aus Berlin.

In Erinnerung an Ingeborg Die Nachricht von Ingeborgs Tod hat uns alle hier in Immenstaad sehr, sehr traurig gestimmt, hatte sie doch hier auch Lenz kennengelernt, um dann Ihr ganzes Leben mit ihm zu teilen. Wir haben uns immer so gefreut, wenn sie , mit Reinhard, zu uns an den See auf Besuch kam. Ihr heiteres , lebhaftes Wesen , ihre Erzählungen über Ihr gewiss nicht immer einfaches Leben, ihre lebhafte Anteilnahme an allem Neuen und Interessanten war immer eine Bereicherung für uns alle. Und wenn wir sie besuchten, dürften wir ihre herzliche und großzügige Gastfreundschaft genießen, bewunderten ihren Tatendrang für Ihr herrliches Anwesen, das sie mit einem wunderschönen , ganz liebevoll gepflegten Garten, nein Park muss man sagen, umgeben hatte. Auch bestaunten wir jedes Mal ihre vielfältige künstlerische Kreativität , sei es mit Glasarbeiten, Töpfereien und vielem mehr. Picture taken on her 94th Birthday 9/12/18. My mother loved chocolate so this cake made her day. She eat more pieces of cake then anybody else at the party. She always found room for desert. My mom's cooking and baking was in it's own world class growing up.
