Obituary of Alma Mae Vajas
Alma Mae Vajas, age 94, born in Paterson, New Jersey and a longtime resident of Paterson, New Jersey, entered into eternity on November 10, 2018, resting comfortably at her daughter's home surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephew and niece.
Alma studied at the New York College of Music majoring in Classical Music and Performance in Opera. As a Soprano, she performed many Chamber Music Concerts, Recitals and Operas throughout New Jersey and New York. After her professional singing career, she began teaching voice and researching ways to improve and strengthen the singing voice conducted vocal research for over 50 years. Her goal was to identify holistic and non-invasive intervention methods suitable for both singers and non-singers. She successfully ran her business Vocal Behavior Training and Vocal Therapy Specialist up until the age of 93.
Alma was married 68 years to John K Vajas, Sr. who passed away at Age 90, in 2016. Surviving family are John K. Jr. and wife Ellen, daughter Alma Maye and husband Agostinho Lousada, son Matthew and wife Dara Vajas. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Lara Vajas, Heather McFalls and husband Michael McFalls, John M. Vajas, Daniel Lousada and fiancé Leigh Reynolds, Sabrina Lousada, and Adrianna Vajas, and 3 great-grandchildren Charlotte (Charlie) McFalls and Asher Finn Reynolds-Lousada. She is predeceased by her first great-grandson Michael John "MJ" McFalls and joins him in heaven.
Alma will be remembered for her love of life, family, music and her faith in the Lord. She touched so many lives with positive strength, love and compassion. Her magical personality and amazing dignity and grace will be remembered my many forever.
