Obituary of Gerard Benedict

Gerard Michael Benedict, age 47, of Wayne and Manahawkin, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015. Gerry was a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6354, Wayne and a 4th degree Knight of Msgr. Stein Assembly, Paterson, NJ and a daily communicant. He worked as a chef, baker and manager of many fine restaurants and hotels in NJ, and was a graduate of Wayne Hills High School, the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY and the Peter Kump School of Baking, NY, NY. Gerry had a great sense of humor and easily conversed with many people, he was an avid reader, a gardener and a photographer, he loved the LBI seashore and his dad treasures his hand drawn Father's Day card that read "A Day at the Beach with sand between your Toes is Like a Day in Heaven". Gerry is survived by his beloved parents, of William F. and Theresa (Trivigno) Benedict, his loving brother William and his wife Christine, adored niece, Katherine Benedict, his dear aunt and uncle Diane and Raymond Benedict; and 4 loving cousins: Timothy, Jason, Ryan and Dana Benedict. Visiting will be on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. The funeral Mass will be Saturday at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke., Wayne and will be celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
