Obituary of Robert Elwood Carney
Robert Elwood Carney, Sr. was born October 21, 1922 and entered into Eternal Peace on September 7, 2015 at the age of 92. Robert was born in Orangeburg, New York and was from the Oakland, New Jersey area for 59 years. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and was part of the unit that built the National Parks infrastructure in Jackson, Wyoming. He was a US Army World War II veteran who was awarded a purple heart for injuries sustained in the European theatre. He married Harriet Adams in 1945. Robert was a corrosion technician for Ford Motor Company in Mahwah, NJ for over 25 years. He enjoyed the sport of a good debate, garage sales and spending time with family.
Beloved husband of Harriet (nee Adams) for 70 years. Cherished Father of son Robert (deceased) and his wife Carolyn; daughter Jacquelyn Seraphine and her husband Richard; and daughter Nancy Solomon and her husband Geoff; grandchildren Jennifer, Joseph, Richard Jr., Kristen, Lilia, Richard, Rose and Martin; greatgrandchildren Cynthia, Aidan, Joey, Ayden, Nevaeha, Aviana, and Emilee. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will hold a private service with internment following at Brigadier General William C, Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
