It's hard to believe that 6 months have passed. I often think that you're still here. So many times in Aruba I would see things that had changed since you were last there and I would think to myself that I have to tell Dad this or that and then I would remember that you are no longer here. I really thought that you would live into your 90's. What I would give to hug you and Mom one more time.

Whenever i think about you I can hear your voice in my head saying "Hello Sweetie-heart". I miss the days when you would go food shopping while me and Grandma stayed home and played cards or colored waiting for you to come back. You were always making sure we were happy, even something as simple as making Aunt Jo-Ellen buy the kind of ice-cream me and Timmy liked for when we came to your house. You are forever in my heart and i miss you so much, make sure you tell Grandma i miss her too.

Pop-Pop was a true hero and a family man. We saw this in the way he loved each of us, and his family was the center of his world. He didn't have to talk about his time in the service or with the police to earn his hero status - he was a family hero, with the way he loved each and every one of us.
He is my own personal hero because without him and Grandma's love, encouragement and assistance, I would not be the person that I am today or have had the motivation to become a better person.
One of my most treasured memories was our arguments over cases on CourtTV. I was always swayed by the defense attorneys, and Pop-Pop was always right about the verdict.
Another one would be the time he did my laundry, but that's not a story for here...
I can picture Pop-Pop, Grandma, and my dad laughing and talking, just like we always have done as a family at the kitchen table. I look at the picture of the 3 of them on MY kitchen table, and though I am upset that he isn't here with us, I feel comforted by the fact that they are happy and together again.

I have always been awed by the dedication that Dad showed to us and to everyone in his family..I used to go with him and wait while he would bathe grandpa Gorley...who was not always pleasant about this...He was always where he thought he was supposed to be. Some of my happiest memories of Dad would be when he would start laughing and it would become uncontrollable and he would not be able to stop...seeing him in that joyful state will always be in my mind...I loved his laugh. He always tried his hardest and did his best. I miss him horribly already. Love Jeff

Pop-Pop was a wondeful grandfather and rolemodel. He always knew what to say, even if he couldn't hear what he was saying. He was a loving family man who put his family before himself. He was always smiling no matter what which helped keep all of our hopes up.

What a beautiful graveside tribute from the Marine Honor Guard! We will all miss you dearly but find comfort in knowing you are back with the love of your life. I'm sure Mom and Johnny were waiting with open arms to welcome you to heaven. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to care for you and Mom the past few years. I can never repay you both for all the loving care you gave me for so many years. I am especially thankful for my sisters and brothers! It has made it much easier during tough times to be able to lean on each other.
You and I share the same laugh and I know that everytime I laugh until I cry I will think of you. I have no doubt that Johnny has already had you laughing in the short time you have been back with him.
Give Mommy and Johnny a big hug and kiss from me. You will all live on in my heart forever!
Jude

My sweet loving Daddy!! You may have seemed a little gruff on the outside to others but I could always see through that. I remember swimming in the ocean safely by your side. Bear Hugs that gave wicked razor burn and the light in your eyes whenever you were watching me play when I was young. You and Mommy set the example that "family" reigns above all else in life. I'll miss our dinners together and probably even miss taking care of your butt ugly feet!! You should have no worries now, we will all continue to take care of one another. I love you more than words could ever express.
XOXOXO
Love,
Your Baby

I remember the first time my Uncle Bud told us the story of the coat, it is a fine example of how Dad lived his life and cared for us his family. How fortunate I have been to have his assistance in my times of need. He rests now with Mom and John, rest in peace.
Love Jim

He has always been a kind and loving brother even when the war came and we separated . He enlisted in the Marine Corps but the Navy was his choice for me He was big and tough but soft and loving when it came to family. One example--Freezing N J night waiting for Mom to get home from grocery shopping .He took his jacket off and put it on me over mine and buttoned it up to my neck. Save a place for me,Son.
I love you, Bud
and buttoned it up to my collar
