Obituary of William Quackenbush Carman
William Quackenbush Carman, age 78, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at home in Pompton Lakes. Mr. Carman was born January 1, 1931 in Paterson, NJ the son of William and the late Deborah (Quackenbush) Carman. He lived in Pompton Lakes and was formerly of Hawthorne. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean war. He was employed by Singer Kearfott as a Tool Maker after retiring in 1993 he was an instructor for the Pequest Education Center. Mr. Carman was the First Vice President of Knee Deep Hunting & Fishing Club of Lake Hoptacong since 1954, Charter member of NJ Wild Turkey Federation and Former VP & member of Hamptonburg Rod & Gun Club in Orange County, NY.
He is survived by one sister: Doris Jackson, his niece, Anna Gonzalez and nephews: Steven Jackson and Myles Jackson. He was predeceased by his Wife, Katherine VanDeSande.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 am at Moore's Home For Funerals, and will be celebrated by Rev. Michael McKay. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
