With my deepest sympathies to Bill's family and friends. I grew up in NJ with Bill and Kay a part of my life. As a child they just seemed to "pop" into our home here and there but always a constant. My father Bob Drexler and Bill became fast friends while involved in the Knee Deep Fishing CLub. Bill took to my younger brother Rob who has developmental disabilities like- dare I say - a fish takes to water. Bill always treated Rob as if he was simply "just another kid" yet kept him under his watchful wing all the while. We participated in many "Derby Days" together and Bill just may have given me my first fishing trophy along with Carmen Rossi of K.D.C. As our families grew closer he would bring us one of his famous pumpkins each year and how my brother and I would marvel at its sight. After Kay passed away Bill began to spend holidays with us- everything from dying easter eggs and sports games to joking on Christmas Day (once with a chip and dip on his head as a hat). I smile with tearful eyes as I type- we never had too much fishing to talk about- by then I was a teenage "girly girl" who only occasionally fished with her dad- but Bill would always have a comment to make & get a laugh between everyone. So now the world is short one great american sportsman but heaven has gained an expert. Godspeed Bill...and give Kay a hug for us too.

Bill was a true sportsman who gave back far more than he took both from the sport and from life. I had the pleasure of dealing with Bill early in my career as a biologist when he was involved in the Lake Hopatcong fish stocking program and later in my career when he helped me out for countless hours at check station. But my fondest memories of Bill will always be when he was a volunteer for the Fishing Education program at Pequest, and he would stop by my lab for a few minutes before or after a fish ed class to fill me in on his latest fishing experience or to discuss his beloved "Cubbies." I will truly miss him. -- Ed Washuta, retired Fish Pathologist

I was so saddened to hear of Uncle Bill's passing. He was such a loveable man. My heart goes out to everyone, though I know he is now home with Aunt Katie and the rest of the family.

To Bill more than a volunteer, a great friend and a true inspiration. To a man who donated over 30,000 hours of his life to share his love for the outdoors with anyone that had the smallest interest.Bill, always the first one at work and usually the last one to leave. It is safe to say that when Bill was around there was never a dull or quiet moment. My life is better because of my time spent with him. I know you are in a place where rabbits are plentiful and the beagles are never quiet! Goodbye old friend
