As we travel through life’s journey, we meet extraordinary people, whom we respect and emulate. Lenny was such a person. We remember him emphasizing the importance of acknowledging people at work every day with a friendly smile and simple hello. Lenny will always be remembered not only for his obvious leadership, but more importantly for his compassion and caring ways. He will certainly be missed, but not forgotten. God Bless Lenny and his family.

Lenny was one of the best bosses I ever had, but I never told him that. We had "busting" and "tough" kind of relationship. He knew just how to push my buttons by messing my hair every time he went passed my desk. We had many laughs and quasi arguments over this. When it was time for work though, he was no-no-nonsense, straight forward, fair and honest. His heart always led the way, and he always made you feel that he had your back. You wanted to do a good job for him. Elise, Chris and Meghan I hope that someday when the pain has subsided you will draw comfort in having such a special husband and dad and the wonderful legacy he has left behind. BJ

I just can’t believe you are gone buddy. I learned so much over the years watching you. You were always a great mentor and a terrific friend. I will miss you smile, your terrific personality, the way you said stuff and your way at looking at life in general. You broke things down in such a way that made people understand and value the simple things in life.
You were never ever afraid of saying what was in your mind and that made you unique. The brave, unselfish manner in which you try to fight this ugly disease was inspiring. Always the same Lenny to the end !! I wish I had just a bit of that courage in me.
I love you man. And yes, I do know he is up there watching over us cracking on some funny observation.
Dear Elise, Christopher and Meagan – Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of this great man – your dear husband and father. God bless you all.

Working for Lenny for several years at Schering, he was my boss, but also my friend. He helped me many times when I was building my house and deck. We both loved building things and using our hands. Many times we talked for long periods about work, life, and careers. I think of him often. God bless Lenny.

I worked with Lenny many times during our years at Schering-Plough. He was one of a kind, a natural leader who easily earned the respect and trust of everyone that worked for and with him. He always looked for - and found - the best in people. He always had an intuitive sense of the "right thing" and did it. My sincerest sympathy to the entire Kowalczyk family...Eileen Walsh

Lenny was a mentor to me from the moment that I joined the Planning Group in Kenilworth over 20 years ago. Back then he struck me as tall, hansome and knowledgeable. He always provided you with swift candid advice ...followed by a big smile. New to the company, I wanted to be like him. Since then Lenny and I worked together often through some exciting and some tough times in NJ Ops and SP. He continued to give me advice and support over the years. He was an opinionated person, he spoke his mind, and he was a decision maker. I didnt always agree with Lenny, but certainly always respected his opinion. Although he was a dedicated colleague at SP- the fact that he was a family man and a contributor in his community shone through. As he went through his battle with disease, he and his dear wife have been a true personal inspiration. Thank you both for that. Lenny was an important part of my upbringing and experience at SP and I will miss him greatly. God bless Lenny and his family.
