Obituary of Elvia Abate
Elvia (Toneatto) Abate, age 84, died Monday, April 13, 2009 in Wayne. Mrs. Abate was born March 5, 1925 in New York, NY the daughter of the late Antonio and the late Maria (Cibischino) Toneatto. She lived in Wayne since 1958 and was formerly of the Bronx. Mrs. Abate was a homemaker with a life long love of cooking and a passion for fine foods. She was a founding member of Our Lady of the Valley R.C. Church, Wayne and a member of their Rosary Altar Society.
Mrs. Abate was the beloved wife for 62 years of Leo who passed away in 2008; loving mother of Mary Beth and her husband John Leonhard, Richard and his wife Jan Abate and James and his wife Barbara Abate; devoted grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Marc Mancini on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley R.C. Church, 630 Valley Rd., Wayne and with a prayer service at 7:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Laurel Grove Mausoleum, Totowa.
Memorial donations in Mrs. Abate's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905
