Obituary of Walter Edward Leonhard
Walter E. Leonhard, age 102, died Friday, October 10, 2008 at St. Joseph's Home for the Elderly, Totowa. Mr. Leonhard was born March 7, 1906 in Paterson, NJ the son of the late Herbert and the late Sarah (Spring) Leonhard. He lived in Totowa and was formerly of Paterson. He was the owner/operator of Walter Leonhard Plumbing & Heating Contractor, Paterson and retired in 1986. Mr. Leonhard was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians R.C. Church, Paterson and a charter member of their Knights of Columbus Council #6805. Mr. Leonard was a member and past president of the Te Tau Wians, the Paterson Lions Club and the Clifton Master Plumbers Association. He was selected to be Mr. Te Tau Wian in 2002.
He is survived by his daughter: Carol and her husband William Tribus; his sons Walter J. and his wife Edith and Joseph J. and his wife Gloria; his 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and his sister Sarah Laurin. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Anna (De Palma); his brothers Herbert and Theodore; and his sister Dorothy Leonhard.
Visiting hours will be Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Home for the Elderly, 140 Shepherds Lane, Totowa.
The funeral mass will be Monday at 10:30 am at St. Joseph's Home.
