Obituary of Robert Joseph Mc Cabe

Robert Joseph Mc Cabe, Jr. Attended by his family at home Robert Bud Mc Cabe passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord September 1, 2008. The son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Clayton) Mc Cabe, Bud was born on May 30, 1921 in Paterson NJ, where he lived most of his life. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1944 and was stationed in Newfoundland, Canada, where he met his wife, Thelma (Lily). They were married September 27, 1946 after his honorable discharge and were happily married for more than 50 years until Thelmas death in 1997. A devoted husband and father, Bud loved spending time with family and friends. He especially loved to sing and playfully tease everyone around him. He took great pride and joy in his three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In 2002, he moved to Cambridge, NY to live with his daughter Sandra. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #139 in Paterson, and the American Legion Post #240 in Prospect Park. Bud is survived by his daughters Sandra (Robert) Herrmann of Cambridge, NY and Cindy Mc Cabe of Pompton Lakes; his grandchildren Robert (Heather) Herrmann of North Concord, VT, Victoria (Collon) Slate of Cambridge, NY, and Christopher Herrmann of Cambridge NY and his fiance Ashley Spiak; his great grandchildren Ian, Lilly, Morgan, and Taylor Slate and Rachel Herrmann; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Johnson of Meza, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral service will be Saturday September 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Road, Wayne and will be celebrated by Pastor Ken Prater. Visiting hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
