Obituary of Mark Daniel Owen
Mark D. Owen, 59, of Wayne, passed away peacefully at Chilton Memorial Hospital on June 5, 2008 after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born on August 12, 1948, in Buffalo, New York to the late Bernard R. and Catherine C. (ORourke) Owen.
He is survived by two brothers, David M. (Sharon) Owen of Fort Myers, FL, and Dennis P. (Barbara) Owen of Glen Rock, NJ, and a sister, Catherine M. (Peter) Dangoia of Bridgewater, MA. He was the loving uncle of two nephews, Michael Owen and Steven Dangoia; and three nieces, Mary Kate Dangoia, Hayley Owen and Blythe Owen.
Mark received his B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) from William Paterson University in 1981, and worked in Los Angeles, CA for thirteen years with the 20th Century Fox Studios before returning to Wayne in 1996. He was last employed with Tiffanys at their Parsippany, NJ offices, in Customer Service.
Mark had a lifelong avocation in the theater and operatic arts and was an active participant in the Light Opera of Manhattan, the Gilbert & Sullivan Players and the Opera De La Carte of Los Angeles. He loved the opera and attended the performances at the Metropolitan Opera House regularly.
Mark was devoted to his family; especially his nieces and nephews who he loved without measure. His spirited, engaging personality and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 2008 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A Memorial Service commemorating his life will be held at 10:00a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send any contributions to the American Cancer Society, 20 Mercer St. Hackensack, NJ 07601
