Obituary of Edith Lillian Van Housen
Edith Lillian (Patrick) Van Housen, age 76, died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at home in Haledon. Mrs. Van Housen was born April 5, 1932 in Paterson, NJ the daughter of the late John A. and the late Lydia (Hough) Patrick. She lived in Haledon and was formerly of Paterson. She was employed by 1st National Bank Paterson as a Bookkeeper and later was a crossing guard and Police Matron in Haledon.
Mrs. Van Housen was a member and the 1st Women Chief of the Haledon Ambulance Corps. She was the Leader of Brownie Troop # 71, Haledon. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxillary of Fire Department # 2, Haledon, President of the Ladies Auxillary of the American Legion Post # 227, Totowa, past president of the Passaic County Ladies Auxillary of the American Legion and a member of the Senior Nutrition Center, Clifton. Mrs. Van Housen was a
Member of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association for over 42 years and a soda seller there for over 20 years.
She is survived by her husband: Jacob Martin Van Housen, Jr., two daughters: Edith " Dee" Van Housen and Patricia Ann and her husband Tom Darnsteadt, one brother: John and his wife Marion Patrick, grandchildren; Eric & Joan, Sarah & Eric and Jeanette; great-grandchildren, Eric Thomas, Emma Grace, Trevor Raymond, Rhiannon Eva And Romeo Lucas.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 am at Moore's Home for Funerals. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
