Obituary of Nathan Salmanowitz
Nathan Salmanowitz, age 80, died Saturday, December 8, 2007 at New Jersey Fireman's Home, Boonton. Mr. Salmanowitz was born May 5, 1927 in Paterson, NJ the son of the late Nathan and the late Beatrice (Graf) Salmanowitz. He was a life long resident of Paterson. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was retired from Fire Engine Co # 2 Paterson, in 1982 where he was a captain. Mr. Salmanowitz also worked as a salesman for Spivak Lighting in Elmwood Park for over 40 years. He was a member of the Paterson Firemans Association, Serra Club of the Paterson Diocese and the Park East Terrace Social club. He also attended St. Therese R.C.Church, Paterson.
He is survived by his wife: Frances [Mazza], one son: Donald, one sister: Jacqueline, four brothers: Don, Ira, Jim and Bob Salmanowitz and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Arthur and sister, Claire.
Visiting hours will be Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:00 am at St. Therese R.C.Church, 13th Avenue and East 33rd St., Paterson and will be celebrated by Msgr. Richard A. Rusconi. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Paterson.
