Obituary of Kenneth J. Hughes

Kenneth J. Hughes, Sr., age 85, died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Atruim At Wayne, Wayne. Mr. Hughes was born July 16, 1922 in Lyndhurst, NJ the son of the late Edward and the late May E. (Jamesen) Hughes. He lived in Wayne the last 47 years. He served in the US Army during World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Mr. Hughes was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was employed by Coats & Clark Inc. Union,NJ as a Research Chemist. Mr. Hughes was a member of Our Lady Of The Valley R. C. Church and was a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society, Nocturnal Adoration Society and the Calendar Committee. He was the first in his family to attend college, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Seton Hall University. He is survived by one daughter: Kirian Mary and her husband Andrew Reddig, two sons: Joseph Gerard and his wife Laurie Beth and Kenneth,Jr., 2 grandchildren, Timothy John and Sarah Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his wife, Maryann [Tully] in 1990. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:00 am at Our Lady Of The Valley R. C. Church, 630 Valley Rd., Wayne will be Celebrated by Fr. Daniel W. Murphy. Interment will be Private in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington.
