Obituary of Joseph Nicholas Verga
Joseph Nicholas Verga, age 88, died suddenly on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack. Mr. Verga was born April 27, 1925 in Garfield, the son of the late Salvatore and the late Vincenza (Russotta) Verga. He lived in Totowa. Mr. Verga served in the US Army during World War II. He was the owner of Verga Realty in Elmwood Park. Previously, Mr. Verga worked at his family's Chevron Gas Station in Elmwood Park with his three brothers. He was a member of St. James of the Marches R.C. Church, Totowa.
Mr. Verga is survived by his loving daughters, Karen and her husband Daniel Cooney and Jody Verga and her husband Edward Poolas, his son Gary Verga; and four dear grandchildren, Ryan, Danny, Michael and Jaclyn. He was predeceased by his wife, Dolores (Chisari) in 2011.
Visiting hours will be Friday from 7-9 p.m.
The funeral will be Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. at St. James of the Marches R.C. Church, 410 Totowa Rd, Totowa and will be celebrated by Fr. Marek Krysiak.
Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
