Obituary of William Peter Arnoldi
William Peter Arnoldi, Sr., age 84, died Friday, August 10, 2007 at home in Smyrna, DE. Mr. Arnoldi was born December 29, 1922 in Clifton, NJ the son of the late Leonard and the late Anna (Vos) Arnoldi. He was formerly of Wanaque and West Paterson.
Mr. Arnoldi served in the US Navy during World War II. He enlisted 12/2/1941 on board service vessels: USS PC-1185; VPMS-1, San Juan, P.R.; VP-8, NAS, Norfolk, VA; U.S. NAS, Patuxent River, MD; USS Currituck (AV7); USS Forrestal (CVA-59); USS Valley Forge (CVS-45) and was honorably discharged on March 17,1958.
He re-enlisted March 18, 1958 on board the Helasron Seven, NAS, and Norva and was honorably discharged on May 1, 1962.
He earned a National Defense Service Ribbon, Navy Occupation Service Medal (With European Clasp) and Good Conduct Medal (2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th Awards). Before retiring, he was employed by Neil's Restaurant, Riverdale, NJ as a chef.
He is survived by his wife: IreneVan De Velde, his children: Audrey Yates, John Read, Kenny Gorman, Mark, William, Jr., Claudia Folsom, Amy Moon, Sharon Kershaw, Francine Sollers; a sister: Ann Kocisko: 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be Monday from 7-9 p.m.
The graveside service will be Tuesday at 1:00 pm at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Ave, Clifton will be celebrated by Pastor James Sollers.
