Obituary of Marguerite Starr Stevens
Marguerite Starr Snookie Stevens, age 81, died Thursday, June 28, 2007 of ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease.
Ms. Stevens was born April 19, 1926 in Paterson, NJ, the daughter of the late John Raymond and the late Mabel (Connell) Stevens. She lived in Wayne and employed by the Wayne Board Of Education as a teacher for fifty years, having taught in Packanack, Preakness and Pines Lake Schools and Schuyler-Colfax Middle School where she inspired many students to pursue science-based careers and to care about their environment, especially animals.
Marguerite's passion in life was animals, not only her own, but those of Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge in Oakland where she volunteered tirelessly and selflessly for eight years after she retired.
Marguerite was very active in Annunciation Church of Wayne, as a greeter and a teacher of C.C.D. for a number of years.
Marguerite was a member of the Navy League of the United Stated and she enjoyed many trips with them using her favorite hobbies of travel and photography.
Although her family is small, her generosity and her irrepressible personality made her a loyal friend to hundreds.
