Obituary of Hazel Mary Starkey

Hazel Mary (Davenport) Starkey, age 82, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at her home of 40 years in Pompton Plains. Mrs. Starkey was born November 16, 1924 in Paterson, NJ the daughter of the late Harry Vreeland and the late Catherine (Mulder) Davenport. She lived in Pompton Plains. She was employed by Financial Services, Inc. Glen Rock, NJ as a Data Processing Clerk. Mrs. Starkey was a member of Calvary Gospel Church, Wayne. Hazels lasting legacy will be her love of GOD, Family and Friends. She loved to bird watch, read, do crossword puzzles, go apple picking in the Fall, take long country rides, crochet her family famous afghans and bake pies, cookies and cakes. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Arthur, sister Ruth Bakay, parents; Harry Vreeland Davenport and Catherine Mulder Davenport. She was the Beloved mother of Sharon And Her Husband Patrick Hart, Richard Starkey And His Wife Rita and Roger Starkey And His Wife Fran, the adored sister of Kay DePhillips and sister in law of Ed Bakay. She was the devoted grandmother of Richard Starkey,II, Jessica Starkey, Lori Weninger Fitamant, Christopher Weninger and Great Grandmother of Elizabeth and Aidan Fitamant. Hazel was the loving aunt of Guy DePhillips, Ed and his wife Sandra Bakay, Gregory and His Wife Sharon Bakay, Larry Bakay, Jay And His Wife Laurie Bakay, Jody And his wife Tracy Bakay and Cindy Bakay. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral will be Friday at 10:30 am at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Road, Wayne will be Celebrated by Rev. Larry Ross. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
