Frank Robert Olandesi
President VOL Engineering & Construction Co. Korean War Vet, 77
Frank R. Olandesi, 77, of Panther Valley NJ passed away quietly on Wednesday evening at Morris Hills Center Nursing Home.
Mr. Olandesi was born in Hoboken and lived there until moving to the Wayne and Paterson area with his family. Later, they moved to Panther Valley, Hackettstown.
He was president of VOL Engineering& Construction Co., Paterson, for 20 years. After that, he owned and operated Silverton, Inc. Other areas of work included engineering consulting. He was involved with the Gemini Space Program in the 1960s. His hobbies include sailing, handball, thoroughbred horseracing, sports and golf.
Mr. Olandesi was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air force during the Korean War.
Prior to this, he enlisted in WWII and participated in the Berlin Air Lift.
Mr. Olandesi is survived by his wife, Barbara ( Priest) ; 3 children, Frank and Jackie Olandesi of Wayne, Diane and Brian Hopkins of Chester, and Michael Olandesi of Hawaii; 4 grandchildren, Frankie, Katie, Cindy and Matthew. He is also survived by his sister Rita and Tony Pescatore of Florida, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Ernest Oland.
Viewing is on Friday, April 20th from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Moores Home for Funerals,1591 Alps Rd.,Wayne. The funeral service is 10:00am at the Funeral home with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
