Obituary of Harry S. Phillips

Harry S. ''Bud'' Phillips, age 87, died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Mr. Phillips was born August 16, 1919 in Bridgeport, CT the son of the late Samuel and the late Lena (Schmitz) Phillips. He lived in Toms River and was formerly of Paterson And Pompton Lakes. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II as a Staff Sergeant with the 28th Bombardment Squadron and received the American Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal,Good Coduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Distinguished Unit Citation. He was employed by the Passaic Valley Water Commission as a Meter Reader for over 25 years before retiring. Mr. Phillips was a former member of the Paterson Avenue United Methodist Church, Paterson. He was also a member of the Passaic County Fish & Game Protection Association and an Avid Hunter & Fisherman. He is survived by three sisters: Emma Plevier of Manahawkin, NJ, Lee Cortese of Wayne, NJ, Alice Ciarlo of Ridgewood, NJ, two brothers: George Phillips of Toms River, NJ, James of Manahawkin, NJ and many Nieces And Nephews. He was predeceased by his Wife, Agnes [Smith] and a Sister, Peggy Cattaneo. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Road, Wayne, NJ. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 am at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Road, Wayne. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Deborah Hospital Foundation, PO Box 820, Browns Mills, NJ 08015-0820
