Obituary of Robert A. Geib

Robert August Geib, age 87, died Sunday, December 3, 2006 in Helsinki, Finland. Mr. Geib was born June 4, 1919 in New York, NY the son of the late August and the late Mildred I. (Dawe) Geib. He lived in Helsinki, Finland and was formerly of Belle Harbor, Long Island, NY, the Pines Lakes Section of Wayne,and Haskell. He was a graduate of Brooklyn College, Columbia University and Rutgers University-School of Banking in New Brunswick, NJ. He was retired from Chemical Bank, NY, NY in 1983 where he was the Assistant to the Chairman since 1937. He served in the US Army during World War II from 1942-1945 in the South Pacific. He was a treasurer and member of the Board of Governors of the USO in Washington, DC from 1965-1981. He served as president of the NY Chapter of Robert Morris Associates. Mr. Geib was a parishioner of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Pompton Lakes. He was also a former treasurer and board member of the Pines Lake Association. He is survived by his wife: Helja Suuronen of Helsinki,Finland, one daughter: Barbara Lee Geib of Berkley,CA, a Grand Daughter, Mara Lee and her husband David Johnson of Oakland, CA, 4 Nieces: Marilee Dwyer, Gail Bodenlos, Joan Lewis and Christine Silverstein, 1 nephew, Robert Bodenlos and 16 Great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his 1st Wife, Leontine B. Bodenlos in 1984. Cremation was Private in Finland. A funeral mass will be offered on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 10 AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 17 Pompton Ave, Pompton Lakes . Interment will be in Christ The King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes.
