Obituary of Paul August Wilhelm Castell
Paul August Wilhlem Castell, age 88, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at St Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, PA. Mr.Castell was born February 26, 1924 in Jersey City, NJ the son of the late Paul and the late Anna Marie (Birmele) Castell. He lived most of his life in Wayne. Mr.Castell worked at St. Anthony's Guild in Paterson for many years. Later, he was the owner/operator of Castell, Inc. - Ecclesiastical Art and Liturgical furnishings. Mr. Castell and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout Europe for their work.
He was a proud US Navy Veteran serving during World War II and was in Fighter Squadron 837 on the USS Antietam during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Castell was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific, American Area, WW II Victory, Good Conduct Medals and the Korean Service Ribbon with two Bronze Stars. He was also an avid Bow and Rifle Hunter often hunting with his grandson, Lloyd, his son in law, Jonathan and his dear friends, Howard, Gary and Jack.
He is survived by his beloved wife: Gloria(Rizsak) Castell, loving children: Cathleen and her husband Jonathan Matson, Laura and her husband Charles Rogers, Constance and her husband Restaino, Paul J. Castell and John L. Castell. Dear Siblings; Lillian Kishmoian, Marie Cooper and Robert Castell, cherished grandchildren; Matthew, Lloyd, Melissa, and Cameron and great-granddaughter, Bella.
He was predeceased by his son, Brian A. Castell, his brothers Gus and Victor and his sister, Johanna Law.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 11-12pm. The funeral will be Wednesday at 12:00 pm will be celebrated by Rev. Robin Mountenay. Interment will be in Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.
