Obituary of Thomas C. Knowles

Thomas C. Knowles, Jr., died Friday, March 15, 2013 at Preakness Health Care Center, Wayne. Mr. Knowles was born in Fort Pierce, FL the son of the late Thomas C. and the late Lillie (Gornto) Knowles, Sr. He served as a 1st Lieutenant and a Paratrooper Instructor in the US Army during World War II and lived in Wayne for over 20 years. Mr. Knowles was a retired Mechanical Engineer and Senior Vice President of Conduit and Foundation Corp. in Elmwood Park. He was a member of The Moles, Past Commissioner of the NJ Sports Authority, Past President of the Associated General Contractors of New Jersey, and a Trustee of the Iron Workers Union. Mr. Knowles was an avid golfer and a member of the Upper Montclair Country Club. Mr. Knowles is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy (Zack) Knowles; his loving children Thomas C. III and his wife Laura Knowles, Kenneth and his wife Rosemarie Weber, and Barbara Arrowood; his devoted grandchildren Nicole, Madison, and Camden Knowles, Heather and Garett Arrowood; and his cherished great-granddaughter, Willow. All services were private. Memorial donations in Mr. Knowles name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905
