Obituary of Marie F. ““Tootsie”” Leonard

Marie F. (Swegel) Leonard, age 80, died Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Cedar Crest Village, Pompton Plains. Mrs. Leonard was born December 10,1924 in Forest City, PA the daughter of the late Valentine and the late Frances (Tedesco) Swegel. She lived in Pompton Plains and was formerly of Newark & Kearney. She was owner and operater of Marie Frances Beauty Salon in Newark and later in Kearney where she worked as a beautician for many years before retiring in 1975. Mrs. Leonard was a former member of St. Stephens R. C. Church, Kearney, She is survived by her husband of 55 years: Joseph F. of Pompton Plains, a daughter: Patricia Sampson of Wayne, five sisters: Rose Dunn of Wayne, Angelina Svecz of Uniondale, PA, Frances Beers of Forest City, PA, Theresa Jones of Waymart, PA, Lucille Hans of Forest City, PA, two brothers: Valentine Swegel, Jr. of Seattle, WA and James Swegel of Uniondale, PA. Sister In Law of Ardeen and Roseann Swegel and Joseph Svecz and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ann Lang. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Road, Wayne, NJ. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke., Wayne where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Msgr. Vincent Puma. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at 9:30Am at St. Josephs RC Church, Delaware St. Forest City, PA. Interment to follow at St. Johns Cemetery.
