Obituary of Anthony Louis LoRe´
Anthony Louis LoRe, age 81, died Thursday, October 6, 2005 at home in Pompton Lakes. Mr. LoRe was born June 5, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late Luigi and the late Carolina (De Cicco) LoRe. He lived in Pompton Lakes and was formerly of Clifton & Brick. He enlisted in the Navy at age 16 and was discharged in May, 1947 with the Rank of Quartermaster 1st Class. He served on the USS Albemarle, USS Cabot, USS Perry, USS Converse, USS Converser, USS Providence, USS Shenandoah, USS Fargo, USS Grand Canyon and the USN YF-447. He earned the WWII Victory Medal, American Area Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation and a Good Conduct Medal. In 1951, he joined the Merchant Marines and earned his Junior 3Rd Mates License and in 1978 he became a Master of All Vessels. Before retiring in 1983 he was a Lieutenant Commander in the US Coast Guard at Governors Island.
He is survived by his wife the former: Isabella (Martin) , two daughters: Carolina LoRe` of Boyton Beach, FL and Lisa Fierro of Pompton Lakes, NJ, two sons: Louis Anthony of Newark, NJ and Peter of Matamaros, PA,. and 7 Grandchildren: Lindsay,Christian,Peter,Katie,Isabella, Alice & Henry
Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Road, Wayne, NJ. The funeral will be Monday at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 17 Pompton Ave, Pompton Lakes where a Mass will be Celebrated by Rev. Kevin Downey. Cremation to follow will be private.
