Obituary of Rozel Sally Wisneski
Rozel Sally Wisneski, age 92, was embraced by the Lord on February 10, 2013, ten days after the loss of her beloved husband of 73 years, Sylvester. Sally was born on the 16th of September, 1920 in New York City. Her parents were Sophie and John Surabura who emigrated from Eastern Europe just after the turn of the century. Sally was raised and attended Catholic and Polish schools in New York City with her 3 sisters who were her lifelong closest friends and confidents. They were "The Surabura Sisters." She met her husband Sy in the neighborhood and they were married in 1941. During WWII, Sally worked at 90 Church Street for the War Department and waited for Sy to return from the war in Europe. Sally was a New York City police officer's wife for the next 3 decades. Upon Sy's retirement Sally and Sy were able to indulge their lifelong love of travelling. She and Sy travelled to every continent of the globe and family members received mementoes from the 4 corners of the world. All of the nephews and nieces anticipated the bags of treats and gifts that Aunt Sally always arrived with on visits.
