Obituary of John James Sherow

John James Sherow, age 82, died Monday, February 14, 2005 at Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pequannock Twsp. Mr. Sherow was born April 11, 1922 in Newburgh, NY the son of the late Jerrimah and the late Mary (Hannigan) Sherow. He lived in Wayne the last 50 years and was formerly of Newark. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and later in the US Coast Guard. He earned a BA from William Paterson University, Wayne. He retired from Paterson Board Of Education in 1993 where he was an Elementary School Teacher. He was a member of the NJEA. Mr. Sherow was a member of Our Lady Of Consolation R.C. Church, Wayne. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former: Florence Martin, two daughters: Florence DeMatteo of Edison, and Leigh Ann Insinga of Wayne, two sons: John of Warwick, NY and Jeffrey of Harding, NJ and 9 grandchildren Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 7-9 PM at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Rd., Wayne, NJ. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 AM at Our Lady Of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke., Wayne where a Mass will be Celebrated by Fr. Michael Lombardo. Private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905
