Obituary of Waldron John Sherer
Waldron John Sherer, age 90, died Friday, January 4, 2013. Mr. Sherer was born May 9, 1922 in Wawayanda, NY the son of the late John and the late Jennie M. (Godfrey) Sherer. He served our country in the US Navy during World War II. Mr. Sherer married Anna Englishman on October 28, 1945. They moved to Pompton Lakes and started a family. Anna died in 1975, leaving Waldron to raise two young daughters.
For many years he was employed by Washington Equipment Company in Paterson. After his retirement, he embarked on his second (and favorite) career as a Pompton Lakes Crossing Guard. Waldron was a dedicated member of the Pompton Reformed church and served on the Consistory as both a Deacon and an Elder.
He is survived by his loving daughters: Nancy Sherer and Holly Sherer Gillette and her husband Vern Gillette, and devoted grandchildren: Angel, Matthew, Rain and William, Bethany, Holly and Jannette.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 10-11am.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 am will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas Bartha.
Interment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
