Obituary of Valentina G. Merritt

Valentina G. (Giacobbe) Merritt, age 77, of Wayne died Sunday, March 16, 2003 at Hospice Of New Jersey, Wayne. Mrs. Merritt was born in Newark, NJ the daughter of the late Antonio and the late Mary (Micati) Giacobbe. She lived in Belleville, Clifton and Parsippany before moving to Wayne in 1963. She was the School Secretary of Our Lady Of The Valley School, Wayne, NJ retiring in 1990 after 22 years. Previously, she worked as a secretary in the Biochemistry Labs of General Foods, Corp., Hoboken. Mrs. Merritt was a member and Eucharistic Minister of Our Lady Of The Valley R. C. Church, Wayne, NJ . She was Past President of the Womens Club of OLV and a former member of the Prime Time Seniors at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Wayne. She was predeceased by her sister, Norma Doran. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald of Wayne, three sons: John of Stockholm, NJ, Stephen of Media, PA, Bill of Lititz, PA, one brother: Robert Giacobbe of Neshanic Station, NJ, a cousin, Victor Micati of Rye, NY; 4 grandchildren, Keith,Erin, Brynn & Liam ;Many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Rd., Wayne, NJ. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30AM at Our Lady Of The Valley R. C. Church, 620 Valley Rd., Wayne where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Msgr. James O'Rorke. Burial will be in Christ The King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes.
