Obituary of John M. Murphy Jr.

John M. Murphy, Jr., age 71, of Pompton Lakes died Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pequannock Twsp. Mr. Murphy was born November 27, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late John M. and the late Elizabeth Murphy. He lived in Pomton Lakes since 1973. He was a graduate of St. Johns university in New York. He was an accountant employed by Pfizer, Inc. New York, NY until 1985, then he opened his own business Pompton Tax & Accounting. Mr Murphy was an Army veteran surving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Murphy was a member of Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post # 2906, Pompton Lakes, NJ the American Legion, Pompton Lakes, and the DAV NJ chapter # 18. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Pompton Lakes. His wife the former Virginia A. Moore predeceased him on Jan. 29, 2003. He is survived by six daughters: Jeanne Andrusin of North Andover, MA, Barbara Murphy , MaryBeth Rhinesmith ,Karen Murphy , Patti Hunt, and Nancy Ettinger all of Pompton Lakes, NJ, one brother: Paul Murphy of Hurleyville, NY, and 8 grandchildren ; Philip,Katherine, Kaitlyn, Jennifer,Andrew, Brandon,Samatha & Erin Visiting hours will be Monday from 3-5 & 7-9PM at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Rd., Wayne, NJ. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 17 Pompton Ave, Pompton Lakes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Fr. Michael Carnevale.
