Obituary of Helen C. Leonard
Helen C. (Clancy) Leonard, age 85, of Wayne died Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital, Wayne.
Mrs. Leonard was born June 22, 1917 in New York, NY the daughter of the late Harry J. and the late Eleanor M. (Godfrey) Clancy. She was raised in the Bronx and moved to New Jersey in 1956, living first in Little Falls and moving to Wayne in 1958. She graduated from Hunter College at the age of 19 with a BA in History and Minors in Political Science and Journalism.
She did graduate studies at NYU, Seton Hall and Paterson State Teachers College. She was a supervisor at Bell Labratories 1943-1945; Section Manager at Bloomingdales 1949-1951;elementary and secondary substitute teacher, 1963-1970; and more recently a court reporter/freelance columnist for the Wayne Today Newspaper 1971-1991
She was predeceased by her husband John B. Leonard in 1977.
She is survived by her loving companion, Elbert (Al) Smith of Wayne. One son, J. Ross Leonard and his Wife Carolyn of Davis CA, and one granddaugher, Julie Leonard of Davis CA.
Visiting hours will be Thursday October 24, 2002 from 6-8PM at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Rd., Wayne, NJ. The funeral will be Friday October 25, 2002 at 10:00 at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Rd., Wayne with Msgr. James O'Rorke officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa
