Obituary of Joseph Raymond Carr
J. Raymond Carr, age 85, of Wayne died Sunday, September 22, 2002 at Hospice of New Jersey in Wayne. Mr. Carr was born January 4, 1917 in Paterson, NJ the son of the late John Joseph and the late Elizabeth (Blakley) Carr.
He served in the US Marine Corps during World War II and was there when the flag was raised at Iwo Jima.
He was a Fireman and Chiefs Aide at the Headquaters of the Paterson Fire Department for 34 years resigning in 1974. He was a former member and State Executive Officer in the FMBA. Mr. Carr later worked as a Special Investigator for the Passaic County Prosecuters Office before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion, Totowa.
He is survived by his daughter: Barbara Carr of Wayne, NJ, a brother: Francis Carr of Palm Beach, FL, his Loving Companion, Phyllis Poemer of Wayne, NJ; her 3 children and her 8 grandchildren and his 3 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Rd., Wayne, NJ. The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 AM at Our Lady Of The Valley R. C. Church, 620 Valley Rd., Wayne where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Msgr. James O'Rorke.
A private cremation will follow the mass.
