Obituary of George J. Goovaerts

George J. Goovaerts, age 84, of Wayne died Thursday, August 29, 2002 at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pequannock Twsp., NJ. Mr. Goovaerts was born September 3, 1917 in Belgium, the son of the late Karl and Marie Goovaerts. He is married to the former Elsa Luding. He was retired from the NJ Manufacturing Insurance Co. of Trenton, NJ in 1980 where he worked as an auditor. Mr. Goovaerts was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Of The Incarnation in Pompton Lakes, NJ and had been the church Treasurer for 30 years. In addition to his wife Elsa, he is survived by one son: Harold of Haledon, NJ, one sister: Rosa Goovaerts of Belgium, three brothers: Herman,Otto And Alfred Goovaerts of Belgium, a daughter-in-law, Theresa Goovaerts of Hamburg, NJ and grandchildren, Kim, Karl and Diana. Calling hours will be Tuesday Sept. 3, 2002 from 2-4 PM at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Rd., Wayne, NJ. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3:30 at the funeral home with Rev. Eric Rieker officiating. A private cremation will follow.
