Obituary of Madeline Schneider

Madeline Crowe Schneider was born in New York City on October 18th 1919 to Francis and Ellen Kett Crowe, formerly of Limerick City, Ireland. Madeline grew up in Manhattan with her siblings, John, Helen and Patrick. Residing in Washington Heights, they attended Incarnation Grammar School and then she graduated from Textile High School. Prior to being wed, Madeline worked as an operator at the Bell Telephone Company of New York. Following World War II, she married her sweetheart, John (Jack) Schneider, of Hollis, New York, on March 12th 1949. They had two children, Joan, born in 1950, and John, born in 1952. They resided in Levittown, New York; Canoga Park, California; and Fort Lee, New Jersey. Madeline and Jack moved to Wayne, NJ in 1968, where she would live until her passing. Following the death of her husband, she lived with her daughter, Joan, son-in-law, David, and grandsons, John and Ryan. Madeline's family kept her young as they vacationed all over the United States, including destinations such as Hawaii and Alaska. She was an active member of The Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Wayne, NJ. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, needlework, reading and the theatre. Madeline spent her final years in The Atrium at Wayne, where her family would visit often, until her passing on November 9th 2014 at 95 years of age. Madeline was pre-deceased by her husband, Jack; her son, John; and her siblings, John and Helen. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and David Murphy, and her grandsons, John and Ryan, of Wayne, New Jersey, along with her brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Dorothy Crowe, of Highland Lake, New York. She also leaves behind three nieces (Dorothy, Jeanne and Susan), two nephews (Patrick and John), three great nieces (Michele, Jaclyn and Briana), and five great nephews (Joshua, Matthew, Daniel, Jesse and Justin). Visiting hours will be Friday from 4-8 PM. The funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10:00 am at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary R.C. Church, 45 Urban Club Rd., Wayne and will be celebrated by Msgr. Peter J. Doody. Interment will follow in Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes.
