Obituary of Claire A. Deleu

Claire Ann (Gunther) Deleu, 80, of Wayne, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at her home in Wayne.

Claire was born on May 25th, 1942 to Clarence and Elizabeth Gunther. She was married to "Jerry" Gerard Philip Deleu Jr. on September 16, 1961, and moved to Packanack Lake in 1963.

She spent her life as a devout Catholic, rarely missing a mass. Cooking and baking brought her great joy, as did her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as always having a quick wit, and good sense of humor.

She is survived by Husband Jerry (Gerard) Deleu; Children Gail (née Deleu) (Mark) Robertson, James (Lisa) Deleu, Karen (née Deleu) Steckenrider, and "Jerry" Gerard (Judy) Deleu; Grandchildren Leanne Robertson, Lauren Robertson, Taylor (Kerry) Deleu, Clayton Deleu, Elizabeth (née Steckenrider) (Josh) McElroy, Josiah (Jennifer) Steckenrider, Joy Steckenrider, Kyle (Olivia) Deleu, Jacey Deleu, and "Jared" Gerard Deleu; Great-Grandchildren Moses McElroy, Ziva McElroy, and Lily Steckenrider; and Brother Charles (Maryanne) Gunther.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Combined Memorial Mass for Claire, and her husband Gerard "Jerry" who passed away on December 1, 2022, will be held on January 7, 2023 t 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady Of Fatima Chapel, 32 West Franklin Ave at First St, Pequannock, NJ 07440.
