Obituary of Marjorie M Lockwood

Marjorie M. (nee Schopback) Lockwood, age 89, died Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at home in Wayne where she was a longtime resident. Mrs. Lockwood was born in Jersey City, the daughter of the late Nora C. and the late John J. Harrington. She graduated from Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood in 1951. Margie worked in several stores after school including Kitty Kelly Shoes in Hackensack, taught Sunday School at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hoboken, and later worked as a clerk-typist for Met Life Insurance in Union City. She loved to watch cooking shows on TV especially Julia Child, Lydia Bastianich and the Scandinavian cooking show where she recognized many recipes that she remembered her mother making. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. She never missed an episode of The Golden Girls. Margie was content with a peaceful moment shared with her husband on a park bench along the Jersey Shore. She is survived by her three daughters: Diana (Tom Gallaugher) Lockwood, Elizabeth (Roy) Ellse and Alicia (Mark) McDonough, and one son: Lyman B., III. Also her grandchildren, Michelle, Rachel and Erin and great-grandchildren Madelynn and Jakeb. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Lyman B. Lockwood, Jr. and her brother Norman Harrington. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. and will be celebrated by Pastor Kimberly Cooper. The interment will follow in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
