Obituary of Barry M Hanratty

Barry Maurice Hanratty, age 84, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022 at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital. Born on July 22, 1938 in Oceanside, New York to the late James and Vivian (Belmar) Hanratty. Barry was a tremendous athlete in his youth. He was approached by two major baseball leagues but chose to pursue his education at the University of Kansas on an athletic scholarship. He proudly served his country in the Army. He was a journalist and world traveler. He has spent the last 20 years writing for the Garabandal Journal. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Chapel in Pequannock. He was predeceased by his nephew Richard in 1995, brother Richard "Dick" in 2018 and his brother James "Jim" in 2022. He is survived by his four nieces Tara Kane, Amy Belzile, Suzie Aschoff, and Tina Holmes. The funeral Mass will be Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Chapel in Pequannock and will be Celebrated by Father Daniel Powers, FSSP. Interment will be in Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Mr. Hanratty's memory to a charity of your choice.
