Obituary of Charles Frank Onorato
Charles Frank Onorato, age 75, died Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at home in Parsippany. Mr. Onorato was born July 18, 1939 in Paterson, the son of the late Carmine Charles and the late Geraldine (Grossi) Onorato. He lived in Parsippany and was formerly of Paterson and Wayne. Mr. Onorato was a paratrooper serving in the US Army from 1962 to 1964. He was with the Special Services Unit at Checkpoint Charlie at the Berlin Wall during the Cold War. Mr. Onorato was as an American Legion Post member. "Butchie" owned Chuck's Amoco Station, on Union Avenue at Arlington Avenue in Paterson for many years. Later he worked at Wayne Auto Parts in Lincoln Park. Mr. Onorato was a member and a past president (1958-1959) of Hi-lifts Club in Paterson and loved to race cars at Pine Brook Speedway.
Mr. Onorato is survived by his beloved son Chuck Onorato and his fiance Paula Capriglione; his devoted grandchildren, Stephanie and Charlie Onorato; his dear sister Geraldine Karas and his loving niece and nephews, Kathy, Ricky, and Edward Karas. He was pre-deceased by his wife Doris Black.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 5, 2014 from 12-3 p.m. at the funeral home with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m. officiated by Rev. Michael McKay.
