Obituary of Tina Freda

Tina (Martucci) Freda, age 93, died Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital, Wayne. Mrs. Freda was born February 15, 1928 in Newark, NJ the daughter of the late Louis and the late Angela (Affinito) Martucci. She lived in Oakland and previously in Wayne. She was employed by Burroughs Corp Bloomfield, NJ as a Office Manager. Tina Freda, born Concetta Gloria Philamena Martucci was 93 years old when she passed away peacefully at St.Joe's hospital in Wayne, NJ. She was born to Angela Affinito and Dr. Louis Martucci on February 15, 1928, they lived on Mount Prospect Avenue in Newark for many years. Tina went to St. John's High School in Staten Island and lived at Loretta Hall, Newark, NJ, part of St. Michael's hospital when she was orphaned with her two brother, Mario and Louis. Mario, the older brother had then gone to the army and Louis, the youngest to many foster homes. Her father being an ENT doctor and President of Columbus hospital at the time, gave generous donations to St. Michael's so the orphanage took mom in at 9 years old. Lived a time in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Newark and later, Bloomfield and then, to Oakland Rehab. Tina adored her only grandchild, now Dr. Thomas James Viccaro. She went to every hockey game, other sports, theater shows that he was in, Indian dances at Rutgers dental that Tom partaked in and even, went to see him at Northeastern University in Boston. She was so proud of recently opening Rochelle Dental in Rochelle Park with Dr. Angela Lo. Tina was fun and full of energy in her younger days. She loved clothes shopping, eating out, always travelling with us and being Tom's buddy and only babysitter when he was young. Loved her animals, Angie, a schnoodle, Paddington who was a westie and poodle mix. And she loved her grand dogs, Alex, Champy and recently, Lily. Loved the library and reading, walked the mall a lot with friends, joined the Golden Age Club for quite a while and walked dogs with her daughter, Paula for 8 years. She went on vacation with Paula, Tom and Tom to Italy, Bahamas, Hilton Head, Long Beach Island, Wildwood ,Virginia Beach, Florida and always ready to go. When younger, her and her daughter took bus to Seaside Heights for day trips. Of course, having lunch and ice cream was her one of her favorite things to do. Loved Broadway plays. Loved her newspaper. Tina was sharp to the end but had neuropathy which landed her in a wheelchair, but she always looked young for her age and smiling. Insisted on no gray hair, only brown. We are so grateful to the loving care that she got at Oakland Rehab after her daughter, Paula could not lift her after she fell for 5 months in and out of hospital. Her neighbor, Maria was a Godsent, help lifting mom off the floor with Paula many occasions. The wonderful and caring touch at Oakland made all the difference in the world and she was there almost 3 years now. She loved Diane, Jeannette, Cindy, Jacob, Stacy, Jeannetta, Zabetta, Maria, Menir, Debbie, Maria, Marlon, Doreen, Rebecca, Audrey, Frankie, Lisa and her roommate, Mary, who is 102 years old. Tina leaves behind Paula Viccaro, her daughter who adored her mother being her best friend ever and always ready to have fun and good time , Gary, her son whom passed away in 2012, her son-in-law, Tom M. Viccaro whom was so good to her all these years and always helped in every situation and of course, her favorite Grandchild, Tom J. Viccaro whom was also always there for grandma and of course, Desiree. She is leaving lots of beautiful friends behind and meeting lots of beautiful friends in Heaven as well.. Please send your thoughts and prayers to Mom in Heaven. Please send donations to Wayne Animal Shelter ( loved all animals big and small) and/ or Oakland Rebab instead of flowers. Please join us for a Memorial Gathering for Tina on Tuesday December 14, 2021 from 5-7PM at Moore's Home for Funerals 1591 Alps Road in Wayne with a prayer service at 6:30 PM during the gathering.
